In 1910 Anselmo Torres and his son Carlos Torres (on the image) established, in Torres Vedras, a small jewellery business, during a critical change in the history of Portugal (foundation of the Republic). With the continuous growth of the activity Torres family built a company that over the course of five generations and until today, has become highly remarkable in Portugal’s jewellery history.

HOW THE FAMILY BUSINESS HAS GROWN
Pursuing its expansion in 1940 the Torres family moved to Lisbon, having acquired Ourivesaria Pimenta in Rua da Palma.
In 1950 the family decided to open a new location, inaugurating another jewellery shop in Rua Augusta in the heart of “pombalina” Lisbon. At that time Carlos Augusto, Carlos Torres son, is already part of the business.
During the following years, the family strengthens its business philosophy, based on a personalized attention to each client, and the offer of the best jewellery and watch brands.

In 1966 João Carlos Torres, son of Carlos Augusto Torres, opens the first jewellery shop under Torres Joalheiros name. The new store was located in Rua Áurea, next to the famous Santa Justa elevator built by Eiffel.
Over the years, Torres Joalheiros becomes famous for its quality, sophistication and exclusivity, seducing the most refined clientele all over the world.
During the 60s, the brand developed close business relations with some of the main brands of jewellery and watches.

In 1970, Torres Joalheiros continues to grow under the leadership of João Carlos and his brother Pedro, sons of Carlos Augusto Torres.
New Torres Joalheiros stores are opened in Cascais Rua Frederico Arouca and in Lisbon Avenida de Roma and Centro Comercial Colombo.
And it is precisely in this decade that the partnership with Rolex was established: on the 3rd of March 1972, Torres Joalheiros became the only Rolex Official Retailer in Portugal.
On the following years new partnerships were established with brands like Chopard, Jaeger-LeCoultre, TAG-Heuer, Franck Muller, F. P. Journe, among others.

At the turn of the 21st century, Torres Joalheiros is focused in strengthening its name and position. The aim of the brand is the careful selection of exclusive and high quality watches, jewellery pieces and premium assistance.
We have continued the expansion of our network with the opening of new stores at Cascaishopping and Alameda dos Combatentes da Grande Guerra, in Cascais and our flagship store at Avenida da Liberdade in Lisbon.
In the portfólio of watch brands new names arrive: A. Lange & Söhne, Girard-Perregaux, Tudor, Chanel, Ulysse Nardin, CVSTOS, Graham, Corum, Panerai, Montblanc and jewellery brands like Messika, Chaumet, Boucheron, Pomellato, Mikimoto, Serafino Consoli, Qeelin among others.
Torres Joalheiros continues developing its prestigious jewellery brand.
At the same time, Torres Joalheiros focuses its efforts on the relationship with its customers and on its philosophy and business values – guaranteeing an excellent and personalized service preserving the values of quality, refinement and exclusivity in the market of high watchmaking and jewellery. Business and tradition continues to be managed by the current Torres fifth generation, represented by Ricardo and Paulo.
